Taliban blow up journalist’s house in Buner

PESHAWAR: Taliban blew up a local journalist’s house in Buner on Thursday. The attack was carried out in Poland village, some 15 kilometres from Pir Baba area of the district. Rehman Buneri, the victim, told Daily Times by phone that around 60 masked men entered the house at around 2am, vacated it at gunpoint and blew it up. He said the Taliban told his father that “Buneri speaks against us a lot”. He said the Taliban told his father they would not harm them and offered to accommodate them if they had nowhere else to go. When the family, including his father, two sisters-in-law and two children between two and three months of age vacated the house, the Taliban blew up the house, he said. He said the Taliban stayed and watched until the house burnt to the grounf. He said the Taliban also took a computer hard disk, a radio and jewellery. He said he had been threatened by unidentified individuals before the incident. staff report
